Ulla Clayborne, Williamsburg, Email: ulla.clayborne@gmx.net
Ulla grew up in Bavaria, south Germany, where she learned how to cook and bake from her mother; her grandmother, who was born and raised in Alsace, France; and also from her great-grandmother.
Cooking, baking and hosting guests fascinated Ulla, so she completed a 3-year apprenticeship in Germany’s best hotel in the Black Forest. This was her stepping stone to working as restaurant manager in deluxe hotels in England, Switzerland, Germany, South-Africa and Wales. After these very exciting and forever precious years she moved back to Germany, studied engineering and architecture and also became a mom of two. Along the way, Ulla met her husband, a US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant.
In 2019 Ulla and her husband moved back to the USA where she is thrilled to fulfill her dream of going back to her roots to cook and bake her traditional family recipes from south Germany and France. You will find cakes, tartes, pretzels, baguette, Kaesspaetzle (a German version of mac and cheese), savory or sweet jams, soups and salads. Everything will be packed in as enviro-friendly as possible boxes, bags or jars (which can be returned!).
Ulla looks very much forward to meeting and sharing her food with Market shoppers, and hopes you will enjoy it as much as her colleagues, family, neighbors and friends do.
