Courthouse Creek is the only cidery in Virginia that adheres to natural wine production techniques (what Liza and Eric call the rustic method). Additionally, they are the only dedicated gluten free facility producing both cider and beer on the entire eastern seaboard. Courthouse Creek ferments and/or ages everything in barrels and foeders, and uses both cultivated yeast and wild fermentation practices. They bottle-condition all of their ciders, their ciders reflect each year’s harvest and they don’t use sulfites. They don’t filter or fine, they don’t add anything to manipulate acid levels, color, or flavor, and they’re not a commodity, mass-produced product; rather, they make fine Virginia cider, naturally! They are also stewards of the land, practicing sustainable farming techniques in the 4.5 acre orchard which the family planted in 2014. They currently have 24 varieties of heirloom cider apples.
Before there was Courthouse Creek Cider, Eric was a lawyer and Liza was a teacher. Wanting to start an agribusiness with their children, they moved from the West Coast to Virginia, because Virginia is for Lovers! Courthouse Creek is proud to be a family owned business.
