How It All Started…. In 1917, Papa Slater (Edward Slater) of Lanexa, Virginia took his old truck with a load of vegetables down to Williamsburg where he set up on Duke of Gloucester Street and this business was born. Papa Slater sold his vegetables through the summer and as the temperatures got cooler, he started taking fresh wreaths down for Christmas.
Today, Christmas Peddler is a 4th generation family owned and operated business here in beautiful Williamsburg, Virginia! Three generations work year round to bring customers the freshest and most beautiful decorations possible. Christmas traditions in each family are very special; the Slaters’ Christmas tradition is making the perfect wreath to enhance Farmers Market families’ holiday joy. They put their love into each and every wreath they make!
