John Brock, Surry County, Email, (757) 357-6159
John Brock is the third generation of his family to farm in Surry County since 1981. At one time the Brock’s raised 300 acres of peanuts; however, today John plants 35 acres of the farm’s 500 acres in peanuts, with the remaining acres in cattle, soybeans and corn.
The peanut crop is planted in May and is harvested every year into October. John is proud to grow the extra-large, fancy peanuts for which Virginia is acclaimed. His peanuts have earned the Virginia’s Finest designation. Bacon’s Castle Peanuts ships its peanuts across the country! It has a little country store on Rt.10, and its gift baskets and boxes are annual gifts for many corporations. Being farmers themselves, John and his family know the importance of a high yielding, quality crop, and are eager to send their best from the fields to Farmers Market customers.
